Hello, hello! Hopefully you're having a pleasant Wednesday evening! Today I'm sharing my take on the Prima BAP for August. I made this page last Saturday, in "Matka Luovuuteen" event. You can read more about it in this previous post (link).
The page is about two wooden pieces, I guess you could say them sculptures, my kids did at my father's wood shop. They found interesting looking pieces on the floor and saw them as characters. So they created a penguin (my older, 5-year-old) and a Pinocchio (my 3-year-old) with some help. The pieces are now on top of their book shelf and I shall definitely store them for them.
I started by applying gesso to the background paper creating a backdrop for the photo. Then I had some of Luminarte paints left from the workshop so I smeared some gold and iridescent blue to the page. On top I layered a few Prima papers and quite a bunch of metal embellishments.
Usually I use mists as one of the first steps when making the page, but with this one that was one of the last. When the page was almost done, I felt it was missing something and didn't look like mine somehow. So I though to add a few squeezes of mist in there and the piece got better. But still it lacked something. So I reached for the white Sharpie and did a calligraphy style doodling over the page. That did the trick!
I fell in love with the background paper the moment I saw it. I've been saving it for a while or rather I haven't had a photo to go with it previously. But these wooden sculptures and the wood crafts suited the pattern in my mind perfectly!
Thank you for stopping by today! Wishing you a creative day!
