Storyteller

Everyday Storyteller 2 is now available! I created several layouts for the book, but only four made the final cut and only two of them appear in the book. "Why?" you ask. Well, for the simple reason that my text took too much space! The ideas behind all the layouts are there and that's more important than the pictures. Also I'm only happy to share the layouts here at my blog.

This is one of the layouts that didn't make the cut because it was too different from the rest. But the idea is the same - how to let your little one take part in the scrapbooking process. Where as other layouts are more hands on versions, this has more of the voice of the child than the little fingers in the making. The journaling in this page is done completely by a child - I recorded way back in speed writing what my daughter was babbling while she was playing. I even tried to write the words like she said them, not the correct spelling. The same text is repeated twice in the layout, so even though parts of it is covered with paper layers and the photo, almost all can still be read. And the original notes still remain, too.

I think I need to scraplift myself and do this type of journaling again. It would be fun to compare the two layouts later on.

Everyday Storyteller 2 -kirja on julkaistu!

Tämän sivun tarinointi on kokonaan lapsen suusta. Sama teksti on toistettu sivussa kahdesti, joten vaikka tekstin päälle onkin sitten rakennettu kerrokset, pitäisi koko tekstin kuitenkin näkyä. Lisäksi alkuperäinen muistiinpano on edelleen jäljellä.

Pitänee skräpistää itseään ja tehdä tällainen sivu uudestaan nykyisistä leikeistä. Eroa kun on varsin paljon. Myöhemmin olisi hauska sitten vertailla, miten leikin kieli on muuttunut.

I'm sharing a little sneak of what my topic was for the book and also a never before seen layout, made for the Everyday Storyteller 2. But when you wish to continue hopping, your next stop is Kami Leonard. Here under you can see the complete hop list.

My topic for the book is creating pages with your little ones. I made several layouts together with the kids but only a few made it to the book. This is one layout made for the book with some selfmade polka dot paper and colored flowers. They can be done together with a 2-year old or a smaller child.

I chose to go with a pastel color scheme and used this black and white photo of my older girl. I used papers by LilyBee, ColorConspiracy and My Mind's Eye. The embellishments include self-made flowers and a button by Polkkaponi.

I hope you'll enjoy the hop! If you wish to know more about my ideas, you should try your luck to win the book or then sign up for the VIP list to get the special discount and get the book!

Storyteller

I guess you have noticed the little icon on the sidebar of my blog stating that I'm a Everyday Storyteller volume 2 contributor? I'm so excited and honoured to be part of it! The Everyday Storyteller site has now a new feature - exclusive sneak peek video of the art work to be seen in the book! Click here to be taken to the site to watch the video! Can you spot my work?

Although the title of my layout is "Storyteller", I actually refer to my habit to go to sleep when I was little. I told myself stories, after my parents had said good night. I thought of fairy tales in my head - usually I was the heroine of them. I don't actually remember a single one of those stories, but I do remember that I was a fairy on one day and a knight the next. The journaling in this layout shall be written on the back.

Have a great day every one! And watch the video - I think it was so exciting!

Olette saattaneet huomata sivupalkissa olevan pienen kuvakkeen, jossa lukee, että olen yksi Everyday Storyteller volume 2 - kirjaan osallistujista? Olen innoissani ja otettu tuosta mahdollisuudesta! The Everyday Storyteller -sivustolla on nyt uusi juttu - video, joka esittelee kirjasta löytyviä töitä! Tästä linkistä pääset katsomaan videota! Osaatko bongata minun työni?

Vaikka yllä olevan leiskan otsikkona onkin "Storyteller", ei sivu varsinaisesti kerro tästä kirjasta vaan viittaa tapaani nukahtaa lapsena. Kerroin nimittäin itselleni satuja kun vanhemmat olivat sanoneet jo hyvää yötä. Keksin erilaisia tarinoita, joissa useimmiten olin itse sankaritar. En muista yhtään satua kokonaan, mutta muistelen olleeni keiju yhtenä iltana ja ritari toisena. Sivun tarinointi löytyy sivun takaa.

Mahtavaa päivää kaikille!

Happy Family layout with steps

Hello everybody! Sun is shining and I'm keeping busy with several scrapbooking projects. Here's one page created just for the blog! I also shot the steps while making the page.

The page is based on that photo of the family. I simply love it, for it's not a perfect portrait - 4-year-old is having a giggle attack and two-year-old is eating her fingers. I'm just kissing my daughter on the head and my husband is explaining something. Love the happy, real-life feel of the photo!

By the way, have you already signed up for the VIP account at Everyday Storytellers? By signing you'll get an idea sheet of everyday memorykeeping as well as have access to all sorts of giveaways! And there's a big sale comming in the Simple Scrapper shop on the 18th! You can then get the Everyday Storyteller vol.1 for a great price!

But let's go to the steps!

First I added some masking tape to the backgroung to create texture. Later on my plan changed completely and I think not a single piece is visible on the finished page. But hey, you'll need to see where the process takes you.

Then I diecut some border strips and attached them to the background with gesso.

Next step was to get messy with Tattered Angel's mists! I used several colors and created several layers of mists. I also kept some parts of the background unmisted, so that the gesso brings light to the page.

I drew a random circular shape to the background with a pencil. Then I added paperlayers, washitape and some stamping.

Title time! I used two different alphas for the title.

And finally added a few embellishments and some black splashes. I also wrote the journaling to the bottom left corner, under the title.

BIG news

I've been dying to tell these news for such a long time! Last year I had an email from Jennifer Wilson asking, if I'd like to contribute to her book "Everyday Storyteller 2". I read the mail for a dozen times just to grasp it and then send an edited reply - my first reply would have been something like "YESSSSS!!!!!!".

But what is Everyday Storyteller? Here's the answer from the site: "You’re invited to take a behind-the-scenes journey into real world, practical scrapbooking. So sign up today, it's totally free!

You can also purchase the e-book version of Everyday Storyteller Volume 1, which includes articles by Ashli Oliver, Jessica Sprague, Amy Tan and many more.

I'm really honoured to been asked to contribute! I'm also really excited and happy about my article. So stay tuned, there's more to come in the following months!

Näin lukee kirjan sivustolla, vapaana suomennoksena: "Sinut on kutsuttu kulissien takaiselle kierrokselle käytännölliseen skräppäykseen. Everyday Storyteller -kirjat ovat modernin skräppääjän hakuteos, jonka artikkelit ovat kirjoittaneet innostavat ihmiset kautta skräppimaailman. Selvitä, miten lempiskräppääjäsi kirjoittavat tarinansa, miten he luovat upeat sivunsa ja silti heillä on aikaa luoda muistoja."

Osana VIP-ohjelmaa saat myös pdf-tiedoston "Simple Tips for Everyday Storytelling ", jossa on 25 ideaa skräppäykseen. Joten kirjaudu VIP listalle, se on täysin ilmaista!

Voit myös halutessasi ostaa "Everyday Storyteller Volume 1" -e-kirjana. Kirjassa on artikkeli mm.

Jääkää seurailemaan, luvassa on lisää!
