Jealousy - Mixed Media Place

Hello there! Some hours ago a new challenge went live in the Mixed Media Place's blog. This time the topic is a hard one - jealousy. I can say that because many of the DT said so in their challenge texts and it took me a while to find an angle, too.

When we got this theme, I browsed through quotes for inspiration. Most of them were one way or the other negative, but a quote by Nicky Minaj stuck with me: "True confidence leaves no room for jealousy. When you know you are great, you have no need to hate." So I used the quote as my jumping off point and made an art journal spread using the idea. The circular shapes behind the girl mimic mandala depicting her confidence and inner peace. I colored the other side of the spread lighter and the other one darker to mimic jealousy creeping nearer and trying to get in. 

I used a lot of mediums for this page - Glimmer Mists, inks, Gelatos, Distress Stains, Glimmer Glazes, High Impact Paint and even PanPastels.

Heippa! Muutamia tunteja sitten julkaistiin uusi haasten Mixed Media Placen blogissa. Tällä kertaa haaste on vaikea - kateellisuus/mustasukkaisuus. Voin sanoa niin, koska monet DT jäsenet kirjoittivat niin haasteteksteissään ja itselläni kesti myös löytää lähestymistapa aiheeseen. 

Kun saimme teeman, aloin tutkia nettiä lainausten varalta. Suurin osa niistä oli varsin negatiivisia, mutta eräs lausahdus jäi mieleeni. Nicky Minaj on todennut: "True confidence leaves no room for jealousy. When you know you are great, you have no need to hate."  - Todellinen itsetunto ei anna sijaa kateudelle. Kun tiedät olevasi hyvä, ei ole syytä vihata. Käytinkin tuota lausahdusta lähtökohtanani ja tein art journal aukeaman. Ympyrämuodot tytön pään takana imitoivat mandalaa, kuvaten tytön itsetuntoa, uskoa itseensä ja sisäistä rauhaa. Jätin aukeaman toisen sivun vaaleaksi ja väritin toisen tummaksi kuvaamaan hiipivää ja sisäänpyrkivää kateutta. 

Käytin sivuun useita erilaisia maaleja ja väriaineita - Glimmer Mist -suihkeita, musteita, Gelatos-liituja, Distress Stain -väriä, Glimmer Glaze -kimallemaaleja, High Impact Paint -maalia ja jopa PanPastels -pastelleja.
