Glazing Resin

I got a package of Pebeo's Glazing Resin from Tempera some time ago. During the course of the Calendar and the Holiday season I had a change to test the medium.

The medium is intented for enameling different things like cards or other flat surfaces. The medium is recommended to non-pourous surfaces. While testing the medium, I found out that while it works with pourous surfaces, too, it soaks into the paper and thus shows the color of the otherside through and changes the white to light grey. With some of the papers this doesn't cause so much trouble if the back is white or suits the other side otherwise, but the star shapes cut from a paper by ColorConspiracy I covered with the medium really lost their brilliant yellow shade in the process.

One really fun way to use the medium was to coat an object, this time a Project Life card, put it into the freezer and then smash it to pieces! While the resin was still cold and freezed, it was really brittle and even snapped the paper with it. After it warmed a bit, you had to tore the paper to pieces.

After this trial I would use the Glazing Resin to make embellishments, but not to any larger pieces of paper. Although the medium is easy to use, I ended up enameling some spots of my table also after the resin run down from the paper I had applied it to. But when it comes to embellishments the only negative thing I can think of is the long(ish) drying time, 12 hours. The medium gives a great shine and almost glass like "dome" on top of the embellishment. If you get the chance, I recommend to try this medium!

Sain jokin aika sitten Temperasta pakkauksen Pebeon Glazing Resin-ainetta. Kalenterin pyöriessä blogissa ja pyhien aikana minulla oli mahdollisuus testata sitä. 

Kyseessä on "lasitukseen" tarkoitettu aine, jota voi käyttää suorille, sileille pinnoille. Ainetta suositellaan imemättömille, sileille pinnoille. Kokeiluissani käytin ihan normaaliskräppipaperia ja huomasin, että vaikka aine toimii myös näillä pinnoilla, imeytyy se paperiin ja muuttaa sen väriä. Joissain tapauksissa paperin toisen puolen väri ja kuvioinnit alkavat kuultaa läpi, mutta valkotaustaisen paperinkin sävy muuttuu, koska valkoinen muuttuu vaaleanharmaaksi. Joissain tapauksissa tämä ei haittaa, mutta esimerkiksi ColorConspiracyn paperista leikatut tähdet menettivät hohteensa, koska harmaa tausta alkoi kuultaa läpi.

Yksi hauska kokeilu oli ensin päällystää paperi aineella, tässä tapauksessa Project Life kortti ja aineen kuivumisen jälkeen laittaa kortti pakastimeen. Jäädytettynä ja kylmänä Glazin Resin muuttui hyvin hauraaksi ja murtui palasiksi vasaralla lyödessä. Kylmänä aine oli jopa niin haurasta, että mursi allaan olevan paperin. Kun aine lämpeni, paperin joutui repimään. 

Näiden kokeilujen jälkeen käyttäisin Glazing Resin -ainetta koristeiden tekoon, mutten isompien papereiden kuorruttamiseen. Ainetta on helppo käyttää, mutta onnistuin silti emaloimaan myös osia pöydästäni, koska ainetta valui paperin reunan yli. Koristeissa aine toimii hyvin antaen hienon kiillon ja jopa lasimaisen "kupolin" koristeelle. Ainut asia, jonka hiukan haittaa, on pitkähkö kuivumisaika, 12 tuntia. Suosittelen lämpimästi kokeilemaan! Itse tykästyin tähän enemmän kuin Rangerin Glossy Accentiin!
