Sgraffito tags - Prima Marketing

A couple of darker projects in a row. But only where the colors are concerned as I used black gesso in these tags and in a journal page I'm sharing tomorrow. I felt that these darker projects fit the Easter Thursday and Friday.

Tags are a fun way to experiment with new mediums. It’s not a big surface, they are easy to make and if they end up looking really good, you can use them as cards or add them into your art journal! These two tags are just quick experiments with the new Oil Pastels.

The backgrounds are done using the “sgraffito” technique, scratching the top layer to reveal colors underneath. First I colored the whole tag using the Pastels, then painted a layer of black gesso on top. After drying I then lay a stencil on top of the surface and scratched with the end of a paint brush to reveal the colors underneath. Fun but effective technique!
